Looking for an inexpensive yet quality smartphone? In search of a good starter phone for your young ones? Or, maybe you’re looking to gift one to your parents who don’t care about the specs but strive for one that is good on the hands? If you answered yes to any one of those, then this article is just what you need. Thanks to the growing competition and innovation in the smartphone industry, you can get great smartphones for as low as Rs. 15000. In this list, we’ve compiled the best phones under 15000 in Nepal, which offer great design alongside impressive performance.

Samsung A10s

Samsung Galaxy As

Starting our list of best phones under NPR 15000 in Nepal is the Samsung A10s. An impressive upgrade over the previous-gen A10, it offers great all-round performance on a budget. Though it came to the Nepalese market for an asking price of over Rs. 15,000, Samsung offered a price-drop in the A10s and is now available for Rs. 13,999. Hence, this makes the device an interesting option in this price-point.

What do people look for in a Samsung phone? Display, right? But you won’t be getting the company’s signature Super AMOLED displays on its budget devices. The same is the case for A10s which has a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a small ‘V’ shaped cutout (Infinity-V) for the front camera. Then again, no other budget device offers an AMOLED panel so the “A10s” doesn’t get any negative markings.

Moving on, it is powered by an octa-core Helio P22 chipset with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. This is coupled with 2GB RAM and expandable internal storage of 32GB. Light gaming, web browsing, and streaming videos should be no problem on the Samsung A10s, which is further complemented by a big 4000 mAh battery.

While the regular A10 had a single camera both front and back, the A10s packs an additional depth sensor for those valuable portraits. Similarly, it also has a physical fingerprint scanner on the back.

Samsung A10s Specifications:

6. Realme C2

Realme C2 - Diamond Black
Reakme C2

Offering some of the best hardware you could find in any given price-point with something to differentiate it from the competition, Realme has made a major stride in the smartphone industry. Despite sharing a lot of commonalities with last year’s Realme C1, the Realme C2 is still a great option if you have a budget of around Rs. 15000 in Nepal.

Coming in a plastic body like most phones in this list, it has a 6.1-inch HD+ LCD display. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The back of the phone has an interesting abstract shape texture that is bound to grab your attention.

Moving to the camera, it has got a dual-camera setup on the back with a 13MP primary lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The 5MP front camera is placed inside a waterdrop notch. For the price you’re paying, the Realme C2 generates great-looking photos with plenty of details and colors.

For performance, it has the Helio P22 chipset which is a popular choice in budget smartphones. This is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. While there is no fingerprint scanner, the software-based face-unlock works alright. Battery-wise, the Realme C2 has a decent 4000 mAh cell.

5. Honor 8A Pro

Honor 8A Pro - Blue
Honour 8A pro

The next entry in our list of best phones under NPR 15000 in Nepal is the Honor 8A Pro. Featuring a stylistic dual-tone design and a slightly glossy plastic back, the overall spec-sheet of the phone is decent considering other entries in this list. At the back of the phone lies the single 13MP camera with the LED flash underneath.

Coming to the front, Honor 8A Pro features a teardrop notch in the middle which houses the 8MP selfie shooter. By the way, the front camera also supports 3D Face Unlock. But if you’d like something more secure, there is also a physical fingerprint sensor at the back. While the top and side bezels are pretty much bare bones, the bottom bezel with the Honor branding is pretty huge.

Big bezels

Because of this, the screen-to-body ratio on the phone reaches just about 79%. Talking about the display, you’re getting a pretty compact 6.09-inches IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution. On the performance end, this phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P35 SoC with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. This has been paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that can be expanded up to 512GB.

Unlike modern Honor phones, the 8A Pro does ship with Google’s suite of applications as it runs on Android 9.0 Pie with Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 on top. In terms of battery, the phone has a pretty small 3020mAh cell that charges via a micro USB cable.

Honor 8A Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.09″ IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (720 x 1560 pixels)
  • Rear Camera: 13MP with f/1.8 aperture
  • Front Camera: 8MP with f/2.0 aperture

  • Battery: 3020 mAh

  • Price: Rs. 15,699* (3/64GB)

4. Xiaomi Redmi 9A

Xiaomi Redmi 9A - Sky Blue
Redmi 9A

Redmi 9A is the latest budget phone from Xiaomi in Nepal. It is the direct successor to last year’s Redmi 8A. Even though it’s a next-gen product, there is very little to get excited about as the upgrades that Redmi 9A brings are quite abysmal. And to make matters worse, Xiaomi has even stripped the device of multiple features from its predecessor.

Starting off, Redmi 9A has a 6.53-inches IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution. While there is nothing wrong with that, it now is void of any protective glass. If you recall, the Redmi 8A had Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Similarly, the body of 9A isn’t P2i coated against water splashes either.

Helio G25

However, one of the main attraction of the phone is its Helio G25 gaming-oriented SoC. Allowing you to get decent FPS on shooter games like PUBG Mobile Lite, Redmi 9A could be a valid option for the absolute budget buyers. There’s a single memory variant with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. You can expand the storage using a dedicated SD card slot.

The single-lens setup follows Redmi 9A as well. Here, you’ll get a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP front camera inside the teardrop notch. Powering the phone is a big 5000mAh battery. While Redmi 8A had the same capacity battery, it came with Type-C port and supported 18W fast charging. However, the Redmi 9A features a micro USB port instead and its 10W charger takes nearly 3 hours to fully juice up the phone from 0 to 100%.

Xiaomi Redmi 9A Specifications:

  • Display: 6.53-inch (1600 × 720 pixels) HD+ 20:9
  • Chipset: Mediatek Helio G25
  • CPU: Octa-Core (8 X 2.0GHz Cortex A53)
  • GPU: Imagination PowerVR GE8320
  • RAM: 2GB RAM with 32GB storage, expandable with SD card (dedicated)
  • OS: Android 10 with MIUI 12 on top
  • Rear Camera: 13MP rear camera with LED flash
  • Front Camera: 5MP front-facing camera
  • Battery: 5000mAh, 10W charging (micro USB)
  • Price: Rs. 11,499 (2/32GB)

3. Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual

Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual - Sea Blue
Redmi 8A dual

The third entry in our list of best phones under NPR 15000 in Nepal is Redmi 8A Dual. It is practically the same phone as the standard Redmi 8A except for one key difference – it has a dual-camera setup at the back. Hence, the name as well. It has a 13MP primary lens (instead of a 12MP one on the 8A) alongside a 2MP depth sensor. Arranged vertically inside a pill-shaped module, the phone has a distinct vertical strip of coating that gives it a unique look.

Moreover, the back of the phone has a fingerprint-resistant build which Xiaomi calls “Aura XGrip Design”. The display on Redmi 8A Dual is a 6.22-inch IPS LCD panel which has HD+ resolution. While that spec sounds pretty common for a phone of this price, what’s rare is its Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Pair that with the P2i splash-resistant coating, this budget phone becomes one tough cookie. There’s an 8MP selfie camera inside the notch.

Snapdragon 439

On the performance front, Redmi 8A Dual is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 coupled with either 2 or 3GB of RAM and up to 64GB of expandable internal storage. The phone ships with MIUI 10 (upgradeable) on top of Android 9.0 Pie.

But Redmi 8A Dual’s most standout feature definitely is its massive 5000mAh battery. This can easily last an average user a full day and even more. It also supports 18W fast charging via the USB Type-C port which is absolutely amazing. However, you’ll need to buy the fast charger separately as Xiaomi is only providing a 5V/2A (10W) charger inside the box.

Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual Specifications:

  • Display: 6.22-inch IPS LCD with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection
  • Resolution: HD+ resolution (720 x 1520 pixels),  19:9 aspect ratio @ 271 PPI
  • Rear Camera: Dual, 13 MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture
  • Front Camera: 8MP

2. Infinix Hot 9 Play

Infinix Hot 9 Play - Violet

Infinix is a relatively new player in the Nepalese smartphone market. However, the company recently launched two new phones in Nepal, one of which fits in our list of best phones under NPR 15000 in Nepal. Infinix Hot 9 Play has two highlighting features – a big display, and a big battery.

First, let’s talk about its display. Hot 9 Play features a massive 6.82-inches TFT IPS panel which unfortunately only comes with HD+ resolution. We know how terrible a big display/low-resolution combo is and seeing Infinix walk straight into the pit feels disappointing. On top of the display is a small teardrop notch for the 8MP front camera and a single front flash. Moreover, the phone has minimal bezels all around, except for the bottom which sees a slightly thicker bezel.

Big 6000mAh battery

Powering the Infinix Hot 9 Play is a big 6000mAh battery. And according to the company, it can give you up to 34 days of standby time or 34 hours of talk time. This phone is also the one with the biggest battery in our list of best phones under NPR 15000 in Nepal. However, the company has gone with a tedious micro USB data/charging connection so filling up the phone’s juice is going to be time-taking.

On the performance end, you get either Helio A22 or A25 depending on the memory configuration. Helio A22 powers the low-end 2/32GB variant while the latter can be found in the more capable 4/64GB option. The phone runs on Android 10 (Go Edition) and has a dual-camera setup at the back. It has a 13MP primary camera and a low-light sensor with triple LED flash.

Therefore, chipmakers and OEMs have been slowly pumping out budget smartphones with good-enough gaming performance. Here, the Realme C11 follows this route as it features the Helio G35 gaming SoC.

Moving to the camera, it has two at the back, and one on the front. The primary sensor is a 13MP camera which if followed by a 2MP depth sensor. They’ve been arranged in a square module resembling Google’s Pixel 4 lineup. in terms of the battery, Realme C11 has a big 5000mAh cell which disappointingly charges via a micro USB cable and doesn’t support fast charging either.
